This project aims to inform the design and delivery of disability-inclusive social protection, to boost resilience including during shocks such as the Covid-19 pandemic.

The aim of this research is to explore the extent to which social protection systems in Peru and Thailand have been responsive to the needs of people with disabilities, including during the Covid-19 pandemic. It will include the following objectives:

  1. To explore vulnerability to shocks amongst people with disabilities (e.g. exposure to poverty; access to health, education, employment and other social support)
  2. To explore the social, economic and health-related impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on people with disabilities
  3. To assess the extent to which pre-existing and Covid-19 related social protection measures mitigated vulnerability to shocks and the impact of Covid-19 amongst people with disabilities
  4. To use participatory approaches to co-develop and disseminate recommendations for disability-inclusive, shock-responsive social protection
